Tuesday 03/16/2010 Watch the film Severe Clear, followed by a talkback with the creative team and cast Severe Clear is based on the memoir by First Lieutenant Mike Scotti, and consists of video footage shot by him and other members of 1st Battalion, 4th Marines on the outset of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Through their cameras we see the raw sounds of war, capturing the harrowing three hundred mile charge to Baghdad through hostile enemy territory. Thursday 03/18/2010 Attend a FREE night of standup at Comix Comedy Club Comix Comedy Club is a New York comedy nightclub featuring major comedians and established New York-area comics. Kathryn Bigelow '81SOA wins Best Director at Academy Awards! School of the Arts alumna Kathryn Bigelow is the first woman to win this honor. Bigelow's The Hurt Locker also won Best Picture at the awards. “There’s no other way to describe it, it’s the moment of a lifetime,” said Ms. Bigelow in accepting her award. Gregory Mosher's Broadway production opens to rave reviews Arts Initiative Director Gregory Mosher's production of Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge, starring Tony Award-winner Liev Schreiber and Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson, opened to unanimously positive critical acclaim. CC alums Vampire Weekend see their sophomore record debut at Number 1 on Billboard 200 The New York band Vampire Weekend sees its sophomore set "Contra" debut at Number one on the Billboard 200 with 124,000 copies sold. The set is only the 12th independently distributed album to top the Billboard 200 chart since SoundScan began powering the list in May of 1991. Vampire Weekend consists of bandmembers Ezra Koenig '06CC, Rostam Batmanglij '06CC, Chris Tomson '06CC, and Chris Baio '07CC.
