Performers include:
Jordi Savall, lira d’archet, rebab, and vièle
Montserrat Figueras, soprano
Driss el Maloumi, oud
Dmitri Psonis, santur and moresca
David Mayoral, percussion

Take part in the opening night program for the new Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center with a selection of music from Afghanistan, Turkey, Sarajevo, Alexandria, Morocco, and all points in between that exemplifies the rich cultural heritage of the region. With thirty years of experience, revered early music champion, violist and music director, Jordi Savall is proof that early music does not have to be elitist or of interest to only a minority, and that it can and indeed does appeal to an increasingly large and young audience.

Tous les matins du monde (1991), directed by Alain Corneau, a fictional tale about the 17th century viol players Sainte Colombe and his student, Marin Marais, won Savall a 'César' award of the French film industry (it went on to sell over a million copies worldwide). See an excerpt on YouTube.

See a live excerpt of soprano Montserrat Figueras singing with Savall's Le Concert des Nations in a performance of Claudio Monteverdi's opera L'Orfeo.
